THE PHILANTHROPIST — CHAPTER 2

“Mr. Goodwin, how long do you plan to fund the shelter?” asked a British Tribune reporter.
“How much did the renovations cost?” shouted another.
“Is resolving the homeless situation in the UK your number one priority?”
“Can you tell us about your next project?”
“Will it be in York, too?”
Cameras flashed repeatedly, the deluge of questions hounding the English aristocrat.
Scissors in hand, he was poised, ready to cut the giant red ribbon blocking the entrance to the newly renovated homeless shelter. City official Silvia Lang stood beside him, accompanied by an entourage of the council’s top brass, prominent members of the foundation, and other dignitaries.
Amidst this distinguished assembly, two figures stood out.
Each standing six foot two and flanking on either side, they surveyed the crowd with steely gazes. Ever vigilant and prepared to risk everything for the man they were sworn to protect, these were his bodyguards.
